Android phones and Windows 10 computers can interact with each other without any hassle, transferring files or sending text messages from the phone to the PC. Fortunately, things have changed with the advent of Microsoft Your Phone app.

The good news is that the Your Phone app has improved over the past two years to include great new features to boost your productivity and make your work easier.

1. Fine-tune distracting notifications
Yes, it's great to be able to access all your phone notifications from your computer, but constant pings can be distracting in the long run. This is especially true if you have notifications enabled for all apps on your phone.
Fortunately, you can fine-tune notifications. In fact, you can choose which apps you want to be disturbed by. To customize notifications, open the Notifications tab in the Windows 10 app and click Customize.
You'll see a list of apps on your phone. Now, toggle the switch to Unnecessary. At the same time, you can select the default device on which you want notifications to open.
Great trick: You can pin a notification if you're afraid of missing it. To do so, tap the three-dot menu next to the notification and select Pin.
2. Run Android applications
Need to check out a quick reel on Instagram but don't want to take your phone off its charging pad (see the best wireless chargers)? The Your Phone app now lets you open apps directly from your PC.
Most apps are supported, whether it's a shopping app or the humble My Files app. All you have to do is tap the Apps option on the right. This will load all the apps on your phone. Tap one, and that's it.
The only problem is that the phone needs to be unlocked. The phone will start displaying the screen, and you won't be able to use your phone during this time.
Once done, click the button Close And that's it. Things will get back to normal.
Pro tip: Do you have a favorite app? Mark it as a favorite. That way, you won't have to search for it in the future.
3. Control songs from your computer
Most new wireless earbuds allow you to control playback with just a few taps. All you have to do is tap once or twice, and the song will play/pause or skip to the next track. However, if you want these controls on your mouse, that can be arranged as well.
Your phone now displays the current song and some basic controls. So, if you want to skip two tracks, all it takes is a series of mouse clicks. However, the controls only extend to play/pause, rewind, and skip. You cannot set a song to repeat.

4. Connect your iPhone
Your Phone app isn't limited to connecting your Android smartphone. Select Continue on PC from the menu. Since this is your first time, you'll be prompted to enter your Microsoft account credentials. Once verified, you'll see the device names. All you have to do is select one, and that's it.
Samsung Link to Windows also has an option to add another computer. While we haven't tested it yet, it would be great to have the option to switch between your laptop and desktop.
5. Copy and paste text like a pro
This is one of our favorite features. On select Samsung phones, the Your Phone app lets you Sync current clipboard contentAll you have to do is press Ctrl+C on a text snippet on your Windows PC, and the text will be available for pasting on your phone and vice versa. Cool, right?
The best part is that you don't need to rely on any third-party apps to do this. It requires a simple change to your settings.
Next time you sign in to the Your Phone app on Windows, head to Settings> Features , as shown below. Once in, toggle the switch for copy and paste across devices. That's it.
Now, press the correct key combination and copy and paste the text like a pro. Note that if you frequently switch between working on your phone and your computer, copying and pasting items may replace existing clipboard items.

6. Transfer files easily
Another interesting thing you can do with your phone app is easily transfer files. Until now, we've had to rely on apps like Files Go to transfer files back and forth. And sometimes, that can be a daunting task.
In your Windows 10 app, tap the phone image to open the Home screen. Now, drag the files you want to transfer to the Home screen.
The files are transferred instantly, and you will find them under the folder MyFiles on your phone.
It has no limits
As we mentioned earlier, the Your Phone app has undergone significant changes over the past year, and now it's been improved and enhanced. The best part is that even if your phone is locked, you can do all your work without any problems. Simply bring up the Home screen on the Windows app, draw your lock pattern, and get to work.
