How Google Drive Works

Google Drive visibility options

Currently, there are three options—Private, Shared, and Anyone with the link. If you don't share your files and folders with anyone, no one will be able to see that particular file or folder. You're the only one who can see it. This is the ideal setting if you have a lot of personal documents on Google Drive.
Alternatively, you can share your file with a specific number of users using the “Share with people…” option. Depending on the privilege you assign them, they will be able to view or edit the document.
But they will never be able to see what else is inside your Google Drive.
The same applies to the third option as well. If you share a link, only users who have the link will have access to the file/folder. Again, the usual rules apply—you should be careful about the information you share in the document. At the same time, you'll want to be a little more careful about the roles you assign them.
Finally, Google Apps users have the option to share their files with only people within their organization. If you choose this option, people within your domain will be able to see and access the file.
So, the bottom line is that no one can access your files and folders within your Google Drive storage unless you explicitly grant them access. But at the end of the day, how do you view shared file folders?
Who can access your files?
Unfortunately, Google doesn't offer a straightforward solution for finding out who has access to all your files at once. You'll have to check the files one by one. The idea here is to check the most recent files.
To do this, open a file and click the Share option in the top-right corner. If it's a private file, only your email address will be listed. If not, you'll see a list of the users with whom the file is currently shared. You can also see their privileges.
All you have to do is click the Remove option to remove the person from the list. Alternatively, you can play around with user privileges. Again, it's worth noting that if you grant someone editor privileges, they can also add others and share the file or document further.
Alternatively, you can select a file from My Drive and click the small I icon in the top-right corner. This is faster and gives you a quick overview of the current sharing status. You can also see when the last edit was made and who made it.
Walls have eyes and ears
