Information overload is a major problem on social media platforms, and Facebook It's no exception. With the dozens or even hundreds of notifications we receive, it's easy to miss important ones. Fortunately, you can customize your settings to ensure you receive notifications when someone posts on Facebook.
Whether it's your best friend, your favorite content creator, your gossip column, your office, or your class group, you can choose to make it your priority or take a break from it. If you choose the former, read on as we show you how to get Facebook notifications for a specific person.
Get notified when someone shares something on the FACEBOOK MOBILE app.
Unlike Instagram's easy notification settings, Facebook's makes it a little more complicated. If you want to turn on notifications for a friend, you have to add them to your close friends list. To do that,
Step 1: Open an app Facebook Yours ← Go to Friend's profile.

How to manage someone's posts in your News Feed
So, Facebook offers three settings,
- Unfollow - You will stop seeing their posts in your news feed.
- The default - Posts will appear as usual.
- Favorites – Here, you will see this friend's post higher in your feed.
It's worth noting that when you add someone to your close friends, Facebook automatically prioritizes their posts—that is, moves them to the Favorites category. Although you can also do this manually.
Go to Friend's Profile ← Click on the icon The three points ← Choose Follow or Favorite ← Here, choose from the three options according to your preference.
Turn on notifications for a specific post
If it's not the person you're interested in, but a specific post, you can enable post notifications for that post. However, if you comment on the post, Facebook automatically notifies you of any updates.
You can also choose to remain anonymous, so the user won't be notified when you turn notifications on or off for a post. To do this, tap the three-dot icon next to the post → Select “Turn on notifications for this post.”
You can easily disable the setting. Simply follow the steps above and select "Turn off notifications for this post."
Note: After that, you'll receive a notification if someone adds a comment, although you won't be notified if someone replies to a comment.
Get Facebook notifications for a specific person on the web
You can also make sure you're notified when someone posts on Facebook. The general process is the same, except you'll have to add the friend to your close friends list.
Step 1: Open your browser and log in to Facebook. Next, visit Friend's Profile.
Step 2: click button friends and select Edit friends lists.
Step 3: Choose close friends from the list.
Here, click Updates from Friends, and make sure the switch next to Allow notifications on Facebook. Choose your preferred options for receiving notifications.
Interestingly, we also noticed that Facebook categorizes posts by "close friends" As a favorite when viewed on the web. Check it out in the screenshot below.
Get notified when a Page posts on Facebook
For whatever reason, you'll only get basic notification settings—choose between Unfollow, Default, and Favorites—when using the mobile app. However, when using the web app, you get a few additional perks.
To turn on post notifications for your Facebook Page, go to . → Click the button "Continue". As you can see in the screenshot below, you get an additional option to get notified if the Page publishes content, videos, live videos, and offers.
Here too, Facebook offers three options for each setting:
- Standard – You will receive up to five post notifications from the Page.
- Discrimination - Only post notifications suggested by the page.

Again, the method is very similar to the mobile app version. Simply tap the three-line icon next to the post and select “Turn on notifications for this post.”
How to get notified when someone posts on Facebook without going to Facebook
Maybe you're on the path to digital simplification or just want to break the habit of scrolling, so you've deleted the Facebook app from your mobile phone. But that doesn't mean you can't receive important notifications from Facebook. We have some solutions that may help.
Get Facebook notifications as email or text messages
You can receive all or some specific Facebook notifications via email or SMS. To do this, go to Facebook Settings & Privacy → Settings → Notifications. Here, scroll down to the section How to receive notifications.
Here, select Email and choose from the following three options,
- All – Get all selected notifications in your inbox.
- Proposal – A notification that Facebook thinks you might be interested in, except for categories you've disabled.
- Required notifications – Only important notifications related to your account, security, privacy, and the pages you manage.
If you're set between the first two options, scroll down and toggle on or off the categories of notifications you want or don't want in your inbox.
The process for enabling SMS notifications is similar. Simply provide your number → select notification frequency and categories.
Get web notification on Facebook
You may have noticed a permission pop-up when you log in to websites asking if you want to receive updates from them. Facebook does this too, but if you don't see the pop-up or dismiss it, here's how to enable browser notifications for Facebook.
Note: While we demonstrate the method for Chrome, it works for all browsers. So, feel free to do this on Your default browser.
Open your browser and log in to your Facebook account. Click on the image. personal file From the upper right corner → Settings & Privacy → Settings → NotificationsHere, scroll down and click on The browser → DoToggle browser notifications.
