Apple updates its default apps once a year with major operating system updates. Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to quickly jot down an idea or a cell phone number but didn't have the right app? Of course, you could always open your favorite note-taking app and create a new note. But that's not the point here. You might miss that moment when you open an app to write a note.
Apple's Quick Notes can save you from such situations. With macOS Monterey and iPadOS 15, users can quickly jot down notes in the default Notes app without opening the app. Here's how.
Use Quick Notes on MAC
Quick Notes is only available on Macs running macOS Monterey or later. Here's how to use it.
Step 1: You can move the cursor in the lower right corner.
Step 2: You will see a quick pop-up window for the note.
Step 3: Click it and macOS will open a small Notes window for you to take a note.
Step 4: Add a title, make a note and press the close button at the top.
Quick Notes on Mac isn't a barebones solution. You can use all the text editing functions available in Notes app Main. One can edit the text using various text styles, create a list, table, and even add a web link.
When you open Quick Notes on your Mac, you'll open the same note you created a while ago. What if you want to jot down another quick note?
In this case, you need to open the Notes app on your Mac. You'll see the Quick Notes section in the left sidebar. Right-click the note and transfer it to your iCloud account.
Quick Notes will now provide a clean, organized notepad for taking notes. Also, iCloud will sync all your Quick Notes across your connected devices.
Use Quick Notes on iPhone
There's no direct way to use Quick Notes on iPhone. Apple has added a Notes toggle in Control Center to allow users to create a quick note on the go.
By default, it's disabled. You need to enable it from the Settings menu. Here's how.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on the iPhone.
Step 2: Go to Control Center > More Controls.
Step 3: Click the + icon next to Notes.
Step 4: It will be included in the Control Center list.
You can now swipe up from the top-right corner to bring up Control Center on your iPhone. Tap the Notes toggle button, and it will take you to the Notes section. Create a note using rich text editing options and return to the Home screen.

Use Quick Notes on iPad
Quick Notes makes more sense on iPad. Those using an iPad with iPadOS 15 can use Apple Pencil to jot down quick notes on the go.

Step 2: A pop-up window will appear indicating a quick note.
Step 3: Click on it, and it will open a quick note window for you to take a note.
Use your Apple Pencil to create a handwritten note on your iPad. Open the Notes app on your iPad and access your Quick Notes from the left sidebar. You can move these notes to a folder in Apple Notes.
Take notes on the go
Apple has also included Tags support in Notes app On all devices. So, for example, you can create a #quicknote tag and add it to all notes created via Quick Notes. This way, you can easily identify and manage these notes using tags.
