Top 8 Tips for Using Instagram's New Sticker Reshare Feature
Found a motivational, funny post, or great photo you wanted to share on your Instagram Story? Then you'll discover the share button is missing. In Instagram's latest update, the share to Story sticker we've all come to know and love is gone. Instead, you'll get the sticker reshare feature. Here are 8 top tips for using Instagram's new sticker reshare.
Read on to learn what's changed and how to use this new feature.
Resharing is Instagram's latest feature to encourage more intentional posting and reduce what can be considered spam on your Story (or anyone else's). You can share any post, IGTV, or Reel to your Story, a sticky feature found in Story mode.
Posts you liked, saved, and viewed within the last hour will appear in the Reshare tab. If a post you viewed contains multiple photos in one, you can select any photo from that group. You cannot reshare a post from Someone you blocked or if they blocked you.
Resharing is a sticker. This means you can reshare (also known as repost) any Story Mode post style—Create, Boomerang, Layout, Hands-Free, Multi-Capture, Level, and of course, the traditional and default Story Mode photo.
Step 1: Choose the style you want to post to your story. We'll use a simple, neutral-colored image for the reshare sticker. Then, tap the sticker button in the top right corner.
Step 2: Click on the Reshare from Selection option.
Step 3: You'll see a new tab displaying all the posts you've viewed, liked, and saved in the past hour. These can be posts from your feed or posts you've viewed on your Discover page.
Select the post you want to share. It will be a layer above the photo you took.
Step 4: Publish your story.
3. Reshape, resize, and re-render your file
You can change the border around the post to show a small excerpt of the caption. By pinching or expanding the image with two fingers, you can resize and move the post as you like.
4. Make the backgrounds of your search posts more interesting
Create mode
Create mode can add a colorful gradient background to your post or a neutral black or white background.
Step 1: Switch to Create Mode on the right panel of the Story Mode page. It's the Aa icon.
Step 2: You can switch between the available gradients and colors by clicking the first left button in the row of options in the right corner. The button is filled with the same gradient as the current background.
You can click on all the colors, and if you find a color you like and skip it, keep clicking the button (a little slower) until you find the color you want. There are 8 color schemes in total: 6 gradients, a solid white background, and a solid black background.
Use Camera Roll
If the colors in Create mode don't match your vision, you can also upload a photo from your camera roll to be the background for your reshared post. Before taking a photo in Story mode, the button in the lower left corner of your screen lets you select a photo or video from your camera roll.
From there, all photos and most videos will be available to share. Find the photo or video you want to use, and from there, follow the same resharing steps to add your desired post on top of your saved media.
5. IGTV and Instagram Reels are animated
When you reshare an IGTV or Instagram Reel, the video will start playing as a small preview. This preview lasts up to one slice of your Instagram Story, which is 15 seconds long. You can layer video clips over any background you set (see Tip #4). The audio from these video clips will also play.
Resharing a video will only display the static thumbnail.
6. You can't mute IGTV and Instagram Reels.
When you post a video from your camera roll or record a video using the Instagram Story feature, you have the option to mute the recorded audio. However, muting is not possible for IGTV and Instagram Reels shared with Reshare.
7. Resubmit comments you've viewed.
When you search for a post to reshare, you're given three tabs to scroll through:
Most viewed recently
These are the posts I've seen in the last hour.
Saved posts
These are the posts I saved.
Share your profile
These are all unarchived posts on your page.
8. You can review recently viewed jobs.
If you've been scrolling from Instagram profile to Instagram profile, you may have forgotten where you saw a post you wanted to share or save. With the Reshare feature, we can revisit all the posts we've seen in the past hour.
This is especially useful if you can't remember which account showed you the funniest meme of the day. Please note that the more posts you've viewed in the past hour, the longer it will take for Instagram to reload your history.
Reshare: Rebranded
These tips for using Instagram's new sticker resharing feature make reposting easy, but they're a little more challenging by adding an extra step. This extra step may make users think a little more about what they want to share with their followers. If you muted someone's Instagram Stories for oversharing, their posting frequency may decrease after this update. You can unmute His stories.
