Apple iOS 13 and iPadOS bring significant changes to the lineup. iPhone and iPad On the software front, most of them are excellent—faster face recognition and native dark mode functionality.
But confusingly, Apple also changed the locations of certain settings we often take for granted. Updating apps, for example, falls directly into this category.
The App Store launched, and now the "Favourite Updates" tab is gone. Instead, there's an option called Arcade, which isn't useful unless you plan to play games often.
But fortunately, you don't have to go to extreme lengths to update these apps on your device. iPhone or iPadBelow, you can find multiple ways to do this easily.
1. App Store Panel Account
Although the "Updates" tab is no longer present in the App Store, your list of app updates is still just a tap away. Start by tapping your photo in the top-right corner of the App Store screen.
- Tip: The badge number above your photo indicates how many app updates are currently available.
In the Account panel that appears, check the Available Updates section—you'll find a list of updates listed below. However, it's a good idea to force a rescan for new updates, which you can do with a simple gesture.
Each app has available updates; use the Update All option. To update apps individually, use the Update buttons next to each listing.
- Tip: You can also delete apps from the "Available Updates" list itself—swipe left on the app, then tap Delete. This is very useful for finally getting rid of apps you rarely use but keep updating regardless.
2. Manually search for the app
Another way to complete an app update is to search for it in the App Store. This is very useful if you have a specific app that you need to update quickly, but don't want to scroll through the list of available updates.
After searching for the app, use the update option (if an update is available) listed next to it to get the update.
- Tip: Exit the App Store, and the update will continue to download and install in the background.
3. Use Siri
This is the same as searching for an app in the App Store, but tell Siri to do it instead. Activate Siri using either the "Hey Siri" voice command or by pressing and holding the Home or Side buttons.
To access the page Firefox For example, simply shout “Open Firefox in the App Store” or “Find Firefox in the App Store.”
Once Siri prompts you to show the app in the App Store, simply tap Update to update it.
It would be great if Siri could apply updates herself, but unfortunately, that's not possible yet. Here's hoping that's on Apple's to-do list for the next iterations of iOS and iPadOS.
4. 3D touch or optical touch
A great way to update all apps at once is to 3D Touch the App Store icon. In the pop-up menu that appears, tap "Update All," and you're good to go.
This gesture was available in iOS 12, but with iOS 13 and iPadOS, devices without 3D Touch functionality can also take advantage of it by using Haptic Touch instead.
On iPhone XR or all iPad models, simply press and hold the App Store icon for a fraction of a second, then release to initiate the gesture. Don't hold the icons for longer than that—otherwise, you'll cause them to wiggle.
5. Set automatic updates
It's fair to say that automatic updates aren't for everyone. If you're on a connection with limited bandwidth, for example, automatic updates can exceed your quota at any given time.
But with iOS 13 and iPadOS, updates have fundamentally changed for the better. Instead of redownloading an entire app, only essential files will now be downloaded. Consequently, app updates are 50 to 60 percent smaller.
To enable automatic updates, open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, tap iTunes & App Store, and then turn on the toggle next to App Updates.
- Note: If you want to use cellular data for app updates, just tap the switch next to Automatic Downloads under the Cellular Data section.
Now you can stop worrying about updating apps altogether.
Stay updated
So, these were all the possible ways to complete app update on your device. iPhone or iPadRemoving the Updates tab in the App Store is a pain point, but you'll be back on the new site in no time. And don't forget to use all these other ways to update. Your applications.
