You may want to keep your private photos and videos away from prying eyes on your Samsung Galaxy phone. Fortunately, One UI's default features are more than enough to help you do just that. Let's take a look at how to hide photos and videos on Samsung Galaxy phones.
You can either use a folder Secure Folder Samsung's premium Vault, Google Photos Locked Folder, or choose OneDrive's Private Vault to keep your secret photos and videos hidden from others.
1. Use a secure folder
Samsung's Secure Folder is one of the best add-ons in One UI programYou can hide apps, documents, media, and even install social media apps to use multiple accounts on your phone. You can read our dedicated post about Setting up Secure Folder on Samsung Phones.
First, you need to enable Secure Folder on your phone. Then, you'll see an option to hide photos and videos in Secure Folder in the Gallery app.
Step 1: Swipe down and open Notification ListFrom quick switches, By enabling the secure folder.
Step 2: Swipe up and open App drawer. Look for Samsung Gallery app برمز Flower and press it.
Step 3: When you see the albums, you can either find photos from the albums or use the tab "Pictures" To browse media by date.
Step 4: Locate Image that you want to hide and open Preview.
Step 5: Click on Three-dot menu In the lower right corner and select the option “Move to a secure folder.”
You can also select multiple photos or videos and move them directly to the Secure Folder. By default, the Secure Folder is hidden from the app drawer menu.
So the next time you open your app drawer, you'll find a secure folder inside. You'll need to authenticate yourself to check the hidden media.
2. Use a locked folder in Google Photos
The default gallery app on Android – Google Photos also offers the ability to hide photos and videos in a locked folder.
First, you need to set it up from the Utilities menu in the app. Follow the steps below to make changes.
Step 1: Look for Google Photos From the app drawer menu and open it.
Step 2: Click on library icon In the bottom bar. Select Utilities tab At the top.
Step 3: Look for Set up a locked folder card And set the start.
Step 4: Click on Prepare from the following list:.
Note that hidden items will not be backed up and you cannot share them either.
Step 5: Refer to the Photo List and select Pictures that you want to make invisible.
Step 6: Click on Three-dot menu at the top and select Move to a locked folder.
Google Photos will move photos from your main Photos list to the locked folder. You can access hidden media from Library > Utilities > Locked Folder menu in the app.
The locked folder feature has some drawbacks. If you uninstall Google Photos, you'll lose all your hidden media along with it. All photos and videos saved in the locked folder remain locally only and are not stored in the cloud.
This means you can't access Locked Folder files stored on another phone or on the web. Google Photos also disables any editing or sharing capabilities for media stored in the Locked Folder.
3. Use the ONEDRIVE Personal Vault
Come Microsoft OneDrive by default on all Galaxy phonesThe cloud storage app offers a Personal Vault feature to hide confidential media files. Here's how to use it.
Step 1: Open OneDrive app On your Galaxy phone. You can find the app under Microsoft folder In the list App drawer.
Step 2: go to the File list and select Staff Vault.
If you haven't set up Personal Vault before, Microsoft will ask you to confirm your identity through account authentication. Create a PIN for Personal Vault, and you're all set to hide photos and videos on your Galaxy phone.
Step 3: Once you enter Personal Vault , Click on + Icon In the upper right corner. Select تحميل The default file manager will open to transfer media files.
Step 4: Locate Photos you want to hide And transfer it to Staff Vault.
Note that Microsoft OneDrive will upload all media files to your linked cloud storage account. This way, you can access hidden photos and videos from the OneDrive desktop app as well.
Once you've hidden your media files in OneDrive Personal Vault, you'll need to go back to the Gallery app and delete the uploaded media files from your phone's storage.
Protect media files on SAMSUNG
For most people, we recommend using Samsung's Secure Folder to hide photos and videos on Galaxy phones. If you're a Microsoft 365 subscriber and actively use OneDrive, you can also use Personal Vault. And if you use Google Photos Lock Folder, be sure to keep the restrictions in mind.
