Routers basically broadcast SSID By default. This makes it easy for hackers to break security and enter your network.
If you're running a wireless network with its own SSID, and it's not hidden, your security is zero. It's best to hide your wireless network's SSID on routers to prevent it from being seen by others.
The options are slightly different for each router. However, they're essentially the same. You just need to have an overview to complete this easily. We've covered a few routers in this article, such as Linksys (Cisco), Tp-Link, and Tenda.
What is SSID In reality?
Some people may have doubts about understanding the SSID mentioned here. It is the name of the network. WiFi Which you will need to connect to in order to browse the Internet.
The SSID is broadcast with a password at maximum frequency. This means you must enter the password to connect to the SSID. It is not the password itself.
Is using hidden networks safe or not?
iOS 10 warns users if they connect to any hidden network, as this could expose personal information. However, on Windows OS, you should only connect to hidden (non-broadcast) networks. Also, it is always recommended to use device security.
Do you hide? SSID Ensures network security?
There are some apps available that can scan and detect the network in a matter of seconds. Also, disabling broadcasting doesn't turn off the SSID; it hides it from your neighbors, but a few scanners can easily detect the SSID.
That's why it's recommended to use a WPA2 security password for your SSID. WPA2 is the standard security with an alpha-number system.
In this context, we have shared a step-by-step guide with screenshots on how to hide your wireless SSID. Just follow the steps below:
