If you've used AirDrop on any Apple device, you'll surely agree how convenient it is for anyone to share files between devices. To provide a similar experience, Android introduces the “NEARBY SHARE” feature. For users to send and receive files between nearby Android devices. Previously, this feature could only be used to transfer files between Android phones. Now, the Nearby Share feature is available for Windows users (in beta at the time of writing, April 2023) to wirelessly transfer files to and from your Android phone. This post explains how to use Android's Nearby Share feature on a Windows 11 PC.

How to install Nearby Share on Windows
As of this writing, the Nearby Share app is available in beta for download on your Windows PC or laptop. Note that the Nearby Share feature is available for Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers running on the 64-bit x86 architecture. This means that you can only use the Nearby Share feature if you have an Intel-based chip running on your Windows PC. There is no support for ARM-based computers at this time.
Here's how to download "NEARBY SHARE" on your Windows computer.
Step 1: On your Windows computer, open your browser and go to the web page. Android Nearby Share.

Step 2: Click START YOUR To download the application.

Step 3: After downloading the file Installation package Click on it and install. NEARBY SHARE.
Step 4: Click “Sign in” To use your Google Account to sign in to Nearby Share Beta.

Make sure you're signed in with the same Google account you use on your Android phone.
Step 5: Launch an app “NEARBY SHARE” Once the installation is complete.

Step 6: After logging in, enter the name of the computer running Windows Which will be visible on your Android phone.

Step 7: Locate Receiving settings From Android devices.

You can also choose between your contacts or devices to receive files.

You can choose to enable receiving from everyone temporarily or permanently.

How to Share Files from Android to Windows Using Nearby Share
Now that you've set up Nearby Share on your Windows computer, we'll walk you through the steps to receive files from your Android device. Note that to use this feature, your Android phone must be running Android v6.0 or later. Your Android and Windows computers must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network, and Bluetooth must also be enabled on your Windows computer.
Here's how to use it.
Step 1: Click icon Windows Search On your computer's taskbar, type Nearby Share Beta From Google, tap Enter to open the application.

Step 2: Click the drop-down menu at the top left side to enable Receipt.

Step 3: Locate Preferred receipt.

Step 4: On your Android phone, select File (files) you want to share.
Step 5: Click on Post Or send.

Step 6: Locate NEARBY SHARE of options.

Step 7: Click on running to enable NearbyShare.

Step 8: Wait for your phone to search for a Windows computer.

Step 9: Click on Computer name Windows based.

Wait for your file to be transferred to your Windows computer.

You will see a notification in the app. Nearby Share on your Windows computer.

How to Share Files from Windows to Android Using Nearby Share
Let's check if you can transfer files from a Windows PC to an Android phone. Make sure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Also, Bluetooth must be turned on on your Windows PC.
Step 1: Click icon Windows Search on Taskbar On your computer, type Nearby Share Beta of Google , And press Enter to open the application.

Step 2: Click Drop Files & Folders To send.

Step 3: Select the file (files) From the Windows computer you want to share.
Step 4: Click on the name Android device To share the file(s).

Make sure your Android phone also has Bluetooth.
After receiving the file on your Android phone, you will see a notification from NEARBY SHARE.

Seamless file transfer
Nearby Share is currently in beta. However, you can still sign up and use the Nearby Share feature from Android on Windows. You can transfer photos, videos, documents, and folders between Android and Windows. Nearby Share is also available for sharing files between two Windows computers.
