It seems that Microsoft is on a mission to revitalize the taskbar in Windows 10. Recently, it Microsoft integrates Meet Now button On the taskbar next to the date and time option. Following the current trend of video calls between consumers and professionals, Microsoft added a nifty utility called Meet Now with Windows 20 version 2H10. It's Microsoft's answer to Zoom for video calls Easily and smoothly on the go.
However, not everyone needs the Skype-branded Meet Now button on the taskbar. Furthermore, if you already use Google Meet or Zoom for your video calling needs, the Meet Now button will be useless.
What is Meet Now in Windows 10?
Microsoft first added Meet Now to the Skype app. It now functions as a shortcut in the system tray.
With just one click, you can create a video call and share the link with participants using email or messaging apps. The good news is that other users don't need a Skype account to join the meeting. All they need is a valid invitation link and password to participate.
It's also very easy to create or join a meeting using the Meet Now button. Simply click the Meet Now toggle button, select Meet Now, and you're ready to start a video call with friends and family using Skype for Web.
Meet Now is available for ease of use and convenience. However, if you're already using competing apps for your video calling needs, you should remove the Meet Now integration from your taskbar. Here's how.
1. Hide the “meet now” button
This is the easiest way to hide the Meet Now button on Windows 10. Hover your mouse over the Meet Now button and right-click it.
Select Hide from the following menu. That's it. Meet Now will no longer bother you on your taskbar.
2. Disable MEET NOW from Settings
There's another way to disable the Meet Now button from the taskbar. Using the Settings app, you can customize the taskbar experience on Windows 10. Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on Windows 10 (use Windows + I keys).
Step 2: Go to the customization menu.
Step 3: Select Taskbar from the side menu.
Step 4: Click Turn system icons on or off from the notification area menu.
Step 5: Disable the Meet Now option from the following menu.
If these steps are too much for you, simply search for the System icon in the search box in Windows 10 Settings. It will take you directly to the System icons in the menu or turn them off in the Settings app.
3. Remove MEET NOW using Group Policy Editor
For most users, the two tricks above should work perfectly well. Power users may consider using Group Policy Editor To remove the Meet Now button from the taskbar, keep in mind that the Group Policy Editor is only available to Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, and Education users. Windows 10 Home users cannot use it.
Also, creating a Group Policy can change a setting for the entire computer, affecting every user on the machine rather than a single Windows account.
Go through the steps below.
Step 1: Click on Windows button And type gpedit.
Step 2: Click on Enter Open the Local Group Policy Editor.
Step 3: Go to configuration User > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar.
Step 4: Scroll down and select an option Remove Meet Now icon.
Step 5: Double click to open الخيار and select Maybe from the following list.
Step 6: Click on Application At the bottom.
Restart your computer and you should be good to go without the Meet Now button on the taskbar.
One can also disable the Meet Now option from Windows Registry ListHowever, we wouldn't recommend this for regular users because making incorrect changes to your registry could have unintended consequences.
Hide MEET NOW on Windows 10
Unfortunately, you can't completely remove the Meet Now feature in Windows 10. One can only hide the button using the tricks mentioned above.
In our personal experience, we found Meet Now to have a decent video calling feature. However, again, it's not relevant for those using Google Meet, Teams, or Zoom.
