However, these aren't the most secure solutions for storing confidential credit card information, so you should opt for a dedicated password manager on your phone. Before doing so, you'll need to remove saved credit cards from your favorite browser on your iPhone.
Browsers are less secure than dedicated password managers. In a browser data breach, your data could be vulnerable to hackers. You need to completely remove remembered credit cards from your iPhone.
1. Remove saved credit cards from Safari
When you try to add payment information through Safari on Mac Or iPad, the browser saves the information to automatically add the card number and expiration date in future transactions.
Here's how to find and remove remembered credit cards using Safari on iPhone.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on the iPhone.
Step 2: Scroll down to Safari browser.
Step 3: From the General menu, select AutoFill.
Step 4: Go to the list of saved credit cards.
Step 5: iOS will ask for authentication. Authenticate yourself, and you'll be able to see your saved credit cards from the list below.
Step 6: Click the Edit button in the upper right corner.
Step 7: Select the credit cards you want to delete.
Step 8: Press delete, and you're good to go.
You can edit your existing credit card from the same menu and even add a new credit/debit card manually.
2. Remove saved credit cards from Chrome
With iOS 14, Apple offers the option to change the default browser on your iPhone. Like many GT members, we're sure many of our readers have switched from Safari to Chrome on their iPhone.
In this case, you need to remove remembered credit cards from Google Chrome on your iPhone. Follow the steps below to make the changes.
Unlike Apple's default apps, you don't need to rely on the Settings app to make necessary changes. Using Google Chrome, you can easily remove remembered credit cards from the app. Here's how.
Step 1: Open Google Chrome on your iPhone.
Step 2: Click on the three dots menu in the bottom right corner.
Step 3: Open the settings menu.
Step 4: Select payment methods.
Google collects payment information from saved cards as well as Google Pay accounts. You can't remove Google Pay accounts from the list itself. However, you can easily remove saved cards.
Step 5: Click Edit in the right corner and select the credit card you want to remove.
Step 6: Click Delete in the lower left corner.
3. Remove saved credit cards from Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge is another capable alternative to Safari on iPhone. If you use Microsoft Edge as your daily driver on your iPhone, you should follow the steps below to remove forgotten cards from Microsoft Edge.
Step 1: Open Microsoft Edge on your iPhone.
Step 2: Tap the three dots menu at the bottom and open the settings menu.
Step 3: Go to your profile.
Step 4: Click on Payment Information.
Step 5: You will see all your saved card information from the list.
Step 6: Tap Edit at the top and remove the card from Microsoft Edge.
Disable credit cards from Safari on iPhone
You've already disabled saved credit cards on your iPhone. Now you don't want Safari to remember your credit card information in the future. You can disable credit card switching from Safari's settings. Here's how.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on the iPhone.
Step 2: Scroll down to Safari.
Step 3: From the General menu, select Autofill.
Step 4: Disable credit card switching from the following menu.
From now on, Safari will no longer remember your credit card information in the app.
Use third-party password managers
Third-party password managers like 1Password, LastPass, and Dashlane offer more functionality and better security for remembering your credit card information. Now that Safari extensions are available on iPhone running iOS 15, you can install your favorite password manager extension in the browser and access all your data without leaving the app.
