Losing Instagram followers isn't a pleasant experience, but it's nice to know which friends have fallen by the wayside. If you want to stay up-to-date on the status of your Instagram follower count, you've come to the right place. This tutorial explains how to find out who unfollowed you on Instagram.
Advice: Make your Instagram profile stand out with HighlightsHere's how to create it.
1. Follow the manual approach
This method works best for those who don't have thousands of followers on their list. If you have only a few hundred, a manual approach may be preferable.
This simply consists of moving to Instagram profile Your Instagram follower count. Take a screenshot on your phone (it can be Long screenshot) so you can remember the number. Be sure to check regularly to see if this number remains the same.
But this technique doesn't really answer a burning question: Who unfollowed you? If you're suspicious because—say, you haven't seen content from this person in your feed in a while, and you know they tend to post regularly—you can check whether they've unfollowed you.
tap on Followers On your profile, view a list of people who follow you on Instagram, then use the search bar at the top to search for a specific follower's account to see if you can still find them. If you can't, they've likely unfollowed you.
If you don't have a hunch that someone might have unfollowed you, you can get into the habit of taking a screenshot of your follower list every now and then, like once a month. Of course, this only works if your follower list is short, but even with a smaller list, it can become extremely cumbersome. You can compare your current list to older screenshots and draw conclusions from there.
2. Use a third party app
If your Instagram follow list is a little larger, or if you don't have time for a manual approach, a third-party app might be the solution. But before we actually share our recommendations with you, we need to clarify a few things.
First, the Instagram API (application program interface) is very restrictive for third-party app developers, so these apps won't be able to tell you about the followers you've lost retroactively. Specifically, you won't be able to see changes to your follower list until after you install the app. Followers you lost before that will remain a mystery.
Furthermore, given Instagram's tendency to change its API without prior notice, some of these apps could stop working at any moment. Another thing to keep in mind is that these apps are not authorized by Instagram, which could leave your account vulnerable to security threats.
Despite all this, if your curiosity overrides your instinct to be wise, you'll be pleased to know that there are some apps that still work well and can tell you when you've lost one (or more) followers on Instagram. More importantly, they can point the finger directly at the person who decided to leave.
