On Android, Gboard gives you the ability to choose a background color for your keyboard. With recent updates, you can also let it choose a color based on your wallpaper thanks to Material youYou can also set a custom image from your gallery as wallpaper.
While the same options are available on Gboard for iPhone, you can take things a step further using the small edit icon at the bottom of each theme. You can set separate colors for the background, keys, text within keys, borders, pop-up window, and more. If you love customization, you'll love this feature!
How to change theme and background on Gboard
As mentioned earlier, there are many aspects of Gboard you can customize on iOS devices. This is the basic option for each of them.
Step 1: Open Gboard app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Click on Features to reach Customization features.
Step 3: Scroll through Different theme options From default, landscape, light gradient, dark gradient.
Step 4: Choose what you want to use for your keyboard. If you don't like any of the themes, go back and tap Thumbnail “+” Bottom of the option "Custom".
Step 5: Browse your photos in Photos application Choose the image you want to use as your background.
Step 6: Set your image to use as your wallpaper. Once finished, tap Selection.

How to change the main, text, border, pop-up, and swipe colors on the keyboard

Change the colors of keys, text, and borders

If you want to leave the background enabled, you can change the background color by choosing from a range of colors.
Choosing a light background color means you'll need a dark text color. You can also choose this under the Text Color option.

Change Swipe Trail Colors for Swipe Typing
