Notion is a complete package capable of replacing multiple apps like Evernote, Google Docs, OneNote, and more. However, it's a bit complex and can be overwhelming. If you're just getting started with Notion, we've compiled the top 10 beginner tips you can use to create Notion Pages like a pro.
Aside from its modular nature, one of the best things about Notion is that the software isn't limited to note-taking or document writing. You can manage projects, create tasks, and create any database within the app.
Before you proceed, you need to master some Notion keyboard shortcuts Follow the tips below for frictionless setup.
1. Use Notion templates
Similar to Google Docs and Microsoft Word, Notion offers a dedicated template gallery to get you started. This template gallery consists of stock templates created by Notion and members of the Notion user community. This is a great way to get started with your Notion experience by copying a template and then customizing it the way you want.

The template gallery features categories such as startups, blogs, students, businesses, and more. You can preview each template, check the description, and then copy it to your idea page.
2. Create columns in a NOTION PAGE
You've probably seen Notion's aesthetically pleasing pages on the web with columns for better organization. You can create the same thing on a simple Notion page, too. Here's how.
Hover your cursor over the text you want to push into a column. Once you drag the block on the right side, you'll see a vertical blue line appear, forming a column. Drop the block, and you've split your idea page into columns.

You can go ahead and create a third column as well. This is useful for those who create weekly task managers or anyone who wants to maximize the space on their Notion page.
3. Change Notion fonts
This is another customization trick many people use to give their Notion page a professional-looking aesthetic. By default, Notion only allows you to choose from three font styles. However, you can easily add any text style to your Notion page.
Visit the igfonts website and type in the text you want to add to your Notion page. The website will provide multiple text styles to choose from. Copy your preferred text style and paste it into the Notion page. Of course, refrain from typing any sensitive information into it.

This is mostly useful for headings. You shouldn't overuse different text styles on a single concept page.
4- Use Notion in dark mode
Notion supports dark mode, and it looks great. From your Notion dashboard, go to Settings & Members and select Appearance. Select Dark, and you'll see an immediate change to your Notion page.

You can also use Command + Shift + L keys and switch between dark and light mode.
5. Use Notion tools
Notion doesn't officially support widgets. However, that hasn't stopped developers from creating excellent third-party widgets.
You can add a live clock widget, progress bar widgets, Spotify widgets, weather widgets, and more. Using them, you can easily enhance the overall appearance of your Notion page and showcase the perfect setup to others on social media.

You can get Notion tools from Indify and Apption.
6. View page updates
Page updates are useful for displaying specific information added to a Notion page. They also help with team engagement on the project. You can see changes made by other team members on a single Notion page.

Click on the Updates menu at the top and reveal the list for more information.
7. Use synchronized blocks
Notion recently introduced Sync Blocks to synchronize content across blocks. This can be useful when using the same Notion template across multiple pages. You can make a change from one block, and it will be reflected across all Notion pages.

Go to Turn to > Synced block and make changes to Notion pages from one place.
8. Linking Notion pages
This is another neat feature that will save you a lot of time navigating Notion. You can copy a link to a Notion page and combine it with another keyword on a different page.
This allows you to jump from one Notion page to another with just one click. Open the Notion page you want to link to, tap the three-dot menu at the top, and select Copy Link.

Go to another Notion page and click on the word you want to pin the Notion page to. Add a link using Command/Ctrl+K and paste the link.
9. SLACK Channel Binding
Notion is fun to use with third-party apps. Among them, Slack offers deep integration with Notion. From the Notion page, click the More menu and select Connect Slack channel.

10. Share a Notion page
Similar to Google Docs, you can share a Notion page and give others editing permission. Here's how. After creating the perfect Notion page, you can click the "Share" button at the top and enable the toggle.

The idea will expand the menu and allow only editing or commenting. You can also enable search engine indexing, but this is limited to paid plans only. This can be useful for those trying to use Notion as a blog or website.
