WhatsApp is the most popular instant messaging app in the world. However, of course, this doesn't exclude problems with its use, such as: Video call not working WhatsApp fails to download media, and more. Additionally, WhatsApp often pushes notifications for new messages on Android. You may have noticed these notifications disappearing on their own. If this is causing you to miss important messages, here's how to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

WhatsApp constantly checks for new messages. However, this process slows down if you're in a poor network coverage area. If you don't have a stable data connection, you'll see WhatsApp checking for new message notifications on your Android device.
1. Move to a better coverage area.
WhatsApp runs in the background to deliver continuous push notifications to your Android phone. If you're in a low-resolution area with one or two signal bars, WhatsApp will continue to check for new messages in the background, and you'll end up checking for new message notifications on your phone.
This shouldn't be a problem if you're connected to Wi-Fi. However, we recommend connecting to the 5.0 GHz frequency rather than the 2.4 GHz frequency.
2. Disable critical app alerts for WhatsApp
With the announcement of Android Oreo 8.0, Google released Notification Channels for Android. Additionally, WhatsApp is implementing Notification Channels, which allow users to segment the app's notification types and customize the sound and vibration patterns for each channel.
Find the WhatsApp app on your home screen or app drawer and long-press it. Then, select the small info button and go to the app menu.

Open the notifications menu and you'll see different app notification channels. Disabling critical app alerts and checking for new message notifications should be easy.

3. Disable background restrictions for WhatsApp
When not in use, WhatsApp runs in the background to fetch new messages, image updates, and more, and delivers new notifications to your phone. Restricting the app to run in the background can cause app issues. Here's how to disable background restrictions for WhatsApp.
Step 1: select icon WhatsApp And press it for a long time.
Step 2: Press the information button and open the menu. Application information.

Step 3: Locate the battery> Restrict background and remove border.

4. Disable data saving mode
Data Saver mode on Android is designed to reduce background data usage. It prevents certain apps from sending or receiving data in the background.
Data Saver mode can interfere with WhatsApp's background functionality. It can leave you checking for new notification pop-ups on Android. Here's how to disable it.
Step 1: Open an app Settings on your Android phone.
Step 2: go to the Network and the Internet.

Step 3: Click on Data Saver And disable the toggle from the following menu.
5. Enable background data usage
If you disable background data usage for WhatsApp, the service will not run in the background. WhatsApp will attempt to check for recent notifications, but it will not deliver them because it cannot access the internet while running in the background. You must remove this restriction from the settings menu.
Step 1: Go to the WhatsApp app info menu.
You can open up Settings> Apps and notifications> View all apps> WhatsApp Access the app info menu. Or you can use the method above and go directly to the app info menu by long-pressing the app icon.
Step 2: Open the Mobile Data & Wi-Fi menu.
Step 3: Activation switch Background data.

While you're at it, enable unrestricted data usage which allows the app to work properly even in data saving mode.
6. Keep WhatsApp open in the multitasking menu.
Third-party Android skins typically remove apps completely from the system to save battery. However, they offer to set an exception for certain apps, such as WhatsApp and Google Photos and OneDrive etc., which need to run in the background to function properly.
You can either keep WhatsApp open in the multitasking menu or use the lock button (some third-party Android skins like MIUI and Realme UI offer this) to keep it closed in the background.
7. Turn off battery saver.
As the name suggests, Battery Saver mode helps you save battery life, but it can hinder other features. For example, it limits the functionality of some apps, such as WhatsApp, in the background.

You should disable battery saving mode from Settings> the battery> List Battery saving.
8. Update WhatsApp
WhatsApp showing an irrelevant check for new message notifications could be due to a bug with your phone. The company is usually quick to resolve such issues.
Get accurate WhatsApp notifications
WhatsApp randomly displays new message notifications, which can leave you feeling confused. You'll be more likely to open the app even if there aren't any new notifications to deal with. Using the steps above, you can easily resolve the issue.
