How to Add a Bluetooth Device to Your Mac
If you want to add a device, you'll first need to turn on Bluetooth on your Mac. To do this, click the icon at the top of the screen and turn it on.

Alternatively, open System Preferences and select Bluetooth. When it opens, select Turn Bluetooth On.

Once your Mac is able to recognize devices in range, follow these steps.
Step 1: Go to your Bluetooth preferences. You can find them either by going to the Bluetooth logo in the toolbar or through System Preferences.
Step 2: Turn on your Bluetooth device and move it within range of your Mac.
Step 3: In the large white box, your Bluetooth device should appear. In this example, we're connecting wireless headphones. Click the "Connect" button next to it.

After completing the last step, your Mac should connect to the Bluetooth device almost immediately.

This can be confusing when you're on a call and can't hear the other person. If you don't want this to happen, or if you've upgraded and won't be using that particular item again, you can manually forget the device.
